Every child deserves a shelf full of stories.

Turning the Page is a youth-led nonprofit sharing the joy of reading through book donations to under-resourced elementary schools across America.

Our mission

We’re a team of bookworms building a future where every child has access to the books that spark curiosity, nurture empathy, and inspire big dreams. From organizing chapter book drives to building partnerships with schools, our team members turn individual passion into community-wide action—proving that age is no barrier to meaningful change.

Book by book, school by school.

Through local chapters across the country, we’ve donated over 50,000 books to schools and community centers in need. Each book is a building block toward literacy and lifelong learning.

Rewriting stories of educational opportunity.

With the number of chapters in the works and on the go increasing everyday, Turning the Page empowers young leaders and educational advocates to build community through service.

Rooted in Brooklyn, reaching across the world.

Our flagship chapter — located in New York City’s Brooklyn borough — coordinates nationwide initiatives, mentorship for new chapters, and strategic partnerships to deepen our reach and amplify our mission.

Our team

Turning the Page is led by a dynamic network of student educational advocates, driven by a shared love of reading and the worlds it unlocks. Founded by a student at Saint Ann’s School, the team began as a small, local initiatice and expanded during the pandemic era.

Together, we believe in the power of youth leadership to turn small acts—like sharing a book—into lifelong impact. Our team is 100% powered by youth and 100% committed to rewriting the future of early elementary education in America, one chapter at a time.
